Hull City have confirmed they are in talks to sign Leeds United striker Richard Cresswell, after failing in a move for Ipswich's Alan Lee.
The Tigers have turned their attention to the Whites hit-man after seeing two bids for Lee rejected by the Suffolk outfit.
Hull have confirmed they are talking to Leeds, but are unsure how long negotiations will take due to the on-going saga involving the fallen West Yorkshire giants.
"We are talking to Leeds about Richard but, at the current time, there are implications when negotiating for any of Leeds' players," chairman Phil Duffen told the Yorkshire Post.
"Cresswell is a quality player and just the sort we would be interested in, especially as it seems the Lee deal is off."
Leeds have confirmed Hull's interest in the striker, but also revealed two other Championship clubs are vying for Cresswell's services.
"The club can confirm three Championship clubs have made enquiries about striker Richard Cresswell," read a statement on the club's official website.
Meanwhile, Leeds assistant manager Guy Poyet is hoping Leeds can bolster their numbers soon as they do not have a recognised goalkeeper.
Youngster Jonny Lund is The Whites' only professional as the club cannot push through deals with Casper Ankergren, whom the club had on loan last season, and Scott Loach.
"I hope we can sign someone - if not I'm not sure who will play in goal," stated Poyet.
"Of course, you want to have your players attached to the club. You need to know he is going to play so you can train him and the back four together."
