Beattie: Excited by deal
James Beattie is 'excited' by Bryan Robson's plans for Sheffield United after completing his move to Bramall Lane.
The former England international has joined The Blades in a £4million deal from Everton after struggling for first-team football last season.
He was persuaded to drop down to the Championship by Robson and is looking forward to playing again on a regular basis.
"I've obviously met the manager and the chairman, and they outlined the plans for the club for the next few years," Beattie told Sky Sports News.
"The ambition and everything they've shown, and what they said to me, made me want to be a part of it.
"It was hard and it was a difficult decision, but the manager has been a legend in the game.
"He knew my thoughts and what I was thinking, and he talked me through it, and when he outlined his plans for the club it excited me."
Beattie is aware he is not guaranteed a starting spot with his new club, but is determined to play a role in helping The Blades back into the Premier League.
He added: "It will be a nice change because last year was a bit of a freeze-out for myself.
"I will have to work hard for my place, but I'm excited by playing a few more games this year.
"We have a hard season ahead of us trying to get back up in the Premiership where we belong."
