Richard Wright insists that confidence remains high at Southampton despite their current predicament.

The Saints currently sit just one place and a solitary point above the relegation zone, and could drop into the bottom three on Tuesday if Sheffield Wednesday take anything from their home game with Coventry.

They have found themselves in their current situation as a result of picking up just two wins in their last 20 Championship matches.

However, with five games left to maintain their second-tier status, Wright believes that there is enough belief within the squad to help pull them clear of trouble in the coming weeks.

No worries

"I'm looking forward to the next game," said the former England international keeper.

"It is a cliche but it is all about the next game. I think as a club at the moment we just have to be positive and prepare for Bristol City next Saturday.

"There is a great bunch of lads here and there is a great belief that we can do it and we are working as hard as we can.

"I believe at the moment it is all about what we do as a club and we have to go ahead and get the results that we need. We can't worry about anyone else. We have to make sure we do our job on the park on Saturday.

"There are 15 points to play for and every one of them will be vital. It is as simple as that. There is no hiding from that at all. So we have to make sure we go out and win the next game."
