Dean Kiely is confident that West Brom will avoid being drawn into a relegation battle in the Premier League next season.

The Baggies effectively secured their promotion back to the top flight with a 1-1 draw against Southampton on Monday.

They are three points clear of third-placed Hull with just one game of the season remaining and have a far superior goal difference.

Goalkeeper Kiely believes West Brom can carry on their success next term and emulate the achievements of his former club Charlton.

Charlton were relegated 12 months ago, but during Kiely's time at The Valley they were regularly comfortably in mid-table.

Ingredients

"When I played at Charlton we were never involved in a relegation battle or a six-pointer," the 37-year-old told the Daily Mirror.

"We finished between seventh and 14th in the six-and-a-half years I was there.

"This club has all those ingredients a little more.

"What we did at Charlton every year was made sure we got off to a good start."
