Jensen: Staying at Burnley
Burnley goalkeeper Brian Jensen has agreed a new two-year contract with the Clarets, although manager Owen Coyle will not be pursuing Manchester City utility Sun Jihai.
Jensen's current deal was due to expire this summer but the 32-year-old Dane has committed to an extension that runs until the end of the 2009/10 campaign.
Jensen is the longest-serving player at the club after arriving at Turf Moor from West Brom in the summer of 2003.
He made 19 league starts this season, sharing the goalkeeping duties with Gabor Kiraly, and the pair are set to battle it out for selection again next season.
"I'm delighted that Brian has verbally agreed a new two-year deal," said Coyle.
"He understands there will be fierce competition, but we welcome his decision and look forward to him signing in due course."
Coyle has meanwhile been linked with Manchester City's Sun Jihai but insists the 30-year-old China international, who is out of contract this summer, is not on his radar.
"I don't know where those stories have come from," he told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph. "I've certainly not spoken to Manchester City or Sun Jihai.
"I'm looking for good players to bring to this football club, and there will be an element of one or two of them being of a more experienced type.
"But where possible, I'm looking to bring younger legs into the football club. Within that, some are going to cost the club money, and I've already put things in motion."
Coyle has also held preliminary talks with Andrew Cole's representatives after his loan spell at Burnley this season, while the Clarets boss is waiting for decisions from James O'Connor, Jay Rodriguez and David Unsworth on their new contract offers.
