Johnson: Proud

Bristol City boss Gary Johnson was proud of his players after the Robins came from behind to beat Crystal Palace 2-1 at Ashton Gate and earn their place in the Championship play-off final at Wembley.

Palace took the lead in the 24th minute - and levelled the tie - through a Ben Watson header following a mix-up between Jamie McCombe and keeper Adriano Basso.

Watson then sent a penalty onto the right-hand upright in the 73rd minute after Nick Carle brought down Tom Soares in the box.

Lee Trundle hit the cross-bar for City with minutes to go and in extra-time scored the crucial goal (104) with a great left-footed shot from the edge of the box.

Sealed win

Michael McIndoe then sealed the win on 110 minutes with a fantastic 35 yards strike into the bottom right hand corner, giving the Robins a 4-2 aggregate win.

Johnson told Sky Sports that he was "as proud as anyone can be" with his players after they came from behind.

"We always seem to come back from adversity," he said.

"The lads have put in a fantastic performance here to come back and finish like they did, as strong as they did and it is credit to them for their season's work."

Great deal

He added that it meant a great deal to him personally as "it means a lot to this football club", but he was anxious to keep everyone's feet on the ground.

"Of course we are going to enjoy Wembley but as everyone knows you only enjoy it if you are the winners."
