Freddy Eastwood has revealed that he would welcome the opportunity to join FA Cup finalists Cardiff.

The Wales international striker has endured a torrid one-season spell with Wolves, struggling to make any kind of impact at Molineux.

Big things were expected to the talented 24-year-old during his time with Southend, and he is adamant that he can rediscover that form if given a chance.

Cardiff boss Dave Jones is in the market for a striker to spearhead the Bluebird's promotion bid next season but is unconvinced as to whether Eastwood is the answer.

The Wolves man has pleaded for the opportunity to prove that he can fill the void at Ninian Park and is determined not to become the forgotten man of the Championship.

"I need to get away from Wolves and play - and Cardiff would be a very good move for me," Eastwood told Wales on Sunday.

"They would be attractive to anyone, they got to the FA Cup final last year and they've got a lot of good young players - you only have to look around the Welsh squad to see that.

"They have brought a lot of good players through and I know they had a little bit of a difficult season in the league, but they showed what they can do by getting to the cup final and in the end they were unfortunate not to win it.

"So anyone would fancy something like that."

Form

Eastwood is desperate to avoid having to return to Wolves next season, with manager Mick McCarthy making it clear that he no longer features in his plans.

"I don't want to be going back to Wolves knowing I'm not going to play," he added.

"I want to go to a club where I'm part of things and I'll have a chance. That hasn't been the case for me at Wolves.

"Sometimes it happens when managers buy players and it doesn't work out, and that seems to be the case with me.

"But hopefully now, one way or another, I'll go to another club and carry on the good form I've had when I've gone away with Wales."

Value

Eastwood feels that he has done enough during his rare outings at Molineux to prove that he has lost none of his goal scoring instinct, and is hoping that someone will tempt Wolves with a suitable offer.

"They will probably want their money back (£1.5m), but having said that I don't think I'm a player who's lost any value," he said.

"I've gone to the club and played well when I have played.

"I was going to go out on loan at one point so it shows there's interest and when I've come off the bench I've done well just like I feel I've done well when I've gone away with Wales, but the gaffer's still turned round and said he's willing to let me go.

"I think that proves that in myself I've not changed at all, it's just that the manager hasn't started me in games."
