Birmingham City chairman David Gold insists he wants James McFadden to stay at the club.

Skysports.com revealed that McFadden is set to leave The Blues, even though the club are desperate to keep him.

The Scottish international is seemingly not keen on playing Championship football following Birmingham's relegation from the Premier League.

Now Birmingham supreme Gold has come out to insist McFadden is not for sale after Celtic reportedly saw a £5.5million bid plus Bobo Balde rejected by The Blues.

"James McFadden is not for sale," said Gold.

"We want to keep our best players to help us try to get back to the Premier League as quickly as possible."

Koller

Meanwhile, City have failed in their bid to sign veteran Czech Republic striker Jan Koller.

The Blues wanted Koller to spearhead their assault to get back into the Premier League but the 35-year-old is now set to leave Nurnberg and join Krylia Samara.
