Freedman: Wants Palace role

Dougie Freedman is waiting to meet Neil Warnock to discuss his Crystal Palace future.

The veteran striker is due to have a testimonial at Palace in pre-season, but is unsure if he is part of manager Warnock's plans for the new campaign.

He finished last season on loan at Leeds United after featuring only sporadically since Warnock took charge at Selhurst Park.

Freedman is due to hold talks with the Palace boss and is keen to be given the chance to fight for a spot in the first team.

"I have another year on my contract and will be back for pre-season when I will be having a meeting with the manager to hear his thinking on the situation," Freedman told the club's official website.

"My view is that I want to fight my way back in the team and have proved that I can still score goals and perform.

"The manager knows what I am capable of and we will wait now for the meeting."
