Johnson: Needs new faces

Gary Johnson has revealed that he has made three offers for players, with two of those being strikers.

The Bristol City manager is back on the training ground having called his squad back for pre-season, but is continuing to put in the hours off the field as well.

He is determined to add to a squad which contains just one new face from a 2007/08 campaign which saw the club narrowly miss out on promotion to the Premier League.

If the Robins are to build on their play-off final defeat to Hull then reinforcements are vital and Johnson has every intention of acquiring his identified targets.

"We have three offers out there at the moment and we're negotiating with clubs," he told City's official website.

"They're not problem negotiations, they're just negotiations and they shouldn't be taken too seriously.

Looking

"Ideally you'd like new signings to be on board by 1st July but that doesn't always happen.

"We're looking at people along the way, going out to foreign lands and we have got targets still which we'll continue to follow up.

"Two of the offers out there are for strikers.

"That's why Enoch Showunmi and Darren Byfield left, so we could free up room in the squad for some new faces."

Meanwhile, City have also confirmed that Chris Weale and Scott Murray have put pen to paper on new one-year contracts.
