Bristol Rovers have turned down two offers from Plymouth for defender Danny Coles.

The highly-rated centre-back signed a two-and-a-half year contract with Rovers in January after turning his loan move from Hull into a permanent arrangement.

Bristol Rovers boss Paul Trollope accepts that Coles may be tempted by a chance to play for Plymouth.

However, Trollope has every intention of keeping one of his most prized assets and has knocked back bids from the Championship club.

He believes Coles can fulfil his ambitions at the Memorial Stadium.

"We received a couple of offers from Plymouth that were not accepted," Trollope told Rovers' official website.

"As far as we are concerned he's a big player for us, and is going to play a huge part in our future, and we don't want him to go anywhere.

"He's said he's happy here but, obviously, there's a part of him that wants to play in the Championship so it's up to us to persuade him that he can go there with us and we are very confident of doing that.

"The board have assured us that he doesn't have to be sold."
