Burnley boss Owen Coyle has insisted that he has no plans to sell striker Besart Berisha.

The Albanian joined Rosenborg on loan earlier this month and there has been speculation that he could be allowed to leave Turf Moor on a permanent basis.

Berisha has yet to make a league appearance for the Clarets after a cruciate knee ligament injury sidelined him for the whole of last season.

However, Coyle maintains that Berisha does have a future with the club and hopes that when he returns from Norway he will be able to challenge for a place in the side.

"The purpose was for Besart to go and get games, so that when he comes back to us he comes back fully fit and raring to go," Coyle explained in the Lancashire Evening Telegraph.

"The lad has been out for a year with a career-threatening injury.

"I spoke to him and said 'you need to get games', and the way it was with (Martin) Paterson, (Robbie) Blake and (Chris) Eagles it was going to be difficult for him to start just now.

"But there's no doubt he's a player with capabilities, and if he can get an extended run in that Rosenborg team then he comes back to us on January 1 fully fit and ready to make an impact.

"It's a win-win situation. (Selling him) hasn't even been discussed."

Berisha scored twice on his debut for Rosenborg as they defeated Molde 3-1.
