Sullivan: In the market
Birmingham City co-owner David Sullivan has admitted the club may look to further strengthen the squad with loan deals.
Alex McLeish's men are currently third in the Championship following an encouraging start to the new season.
The club are eager to return to the Premier League after their relegation last term, and Sullivan has confirmed the Blues are still in the market to add to the side, with Tottenham's Kevin-Prince Boateng a possible option.
Sullivan said in the Birmingham Mail: "Boateng? Still a possibility, who knows? Another club were about to buy him for a pile of money, then changed their mind.
"Alex wants to find out more about a few players, he likes to make sure he has all his research done. You have to back your manager.
"It's not usually a good idea to bring people in on the last day, especially when you still have the opportunity in the next couple of months.
"There were various deals we were working on but we all had to be sure, and time got us in the end.
"We know we maybe need a couple more players, but we could still possibly loan for three months with a view to buy at Christmas.
"Why panic? You find that when you buy or loan at the last minute when the window is about to shut, nine times out of 10 it doesn't come off."
Sullivan also revealed Birmingham turned down 'substantial' bids for a number of their players on Monday.
He added: "We had substantial offers for four or five players, but we had already made our intentions clear about not selling.
"I don't want to go into detail about who and how much, that would be wrong and cause unrest."
