Birmingham are considering a loan move for Tottenham midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng.

Boateng, Ricardo Rocha and Adel Taarabt have not been given squad numbers by Spurs head coach Juande Ramos and Birmingham co-owner David Sullivan claimed another club almost bought him before the transfer window closed.

Although a permanent move is now off the agenda until January, Sullivan confirmed signing the Germany Under 21 international on a short-term deal was 'still a possibility'.

"Another club were about to buy him for a pile of money, but then changed their mind," Sullivan told the Birmingham Mail.

Boateng was set to return to Germany, where he established himself at Hertha Berlin, but his wages are thought to have blocked the move.

The 21-year-old made 13 league appearances for Spurs last season after being spotted by sporting director Damien Comolli.

Comolli has been scouting for Spurs since 2005 but Ramos has given his assessment of the squad he inherited last October by allowing seven first-team players to leave.
