Ipswich boss Jim Magilton is hoping to utilise the considerable experience of Don Howe.

The Tractor Boys boss has invited the former England coach to work with his first-team squad for a few days this week.

Magilton is hoping Howe can pass on the knowledge he has acquired during his 50-plus years in football.

The 73-year-old took in spells at West Brom and Arsenal as a player, while he also represented England at the 1958 World Cup.

He later went on to manage both the Baggies and the Gunners, as well as taking coaching roles as Leeds, Wimbledon, Queens Park Rangers and Galatasaray.

Extensive

He worked on the international stage during Bobby Robson's time in charge of the Three Lions and was also an integral part of Terry Venables' coaching staff in the mid-90s.

He was more recently involved in the appointment of Giovanni Trapattoni as Republic of Ireland boss, but has not stepped foot on a training field since announcing his retirement from coaching in 2003.

"I met Don when I was doing my A license coaching badge and his knowledge of the game is so extensive," Magilton told Ipswich's official website.

"I have invited him down to the club this week to spend a couple of days with the players and the staff.

"He has looked at some videos of our games and will take a couple of sessions and I think it will be a great learning exercise for everyone."
