Nottingham Forest have ended their pursuit of new firepower with the loan acquisition of Dexter Blackstock until the end of the season.

Billy Davies thought he had landed his man after enquiring about Aston Villa striker Marlon Harewood, but the former City Ground favourite opted instead to move to Wolves.

Blackstock, 22, tops the Loftus Road scoring charts this term with 12 goals, but boss Paulo Sousa has allowed him to link up with their Championship rivals after the clubs agreed an undisclosed loan fee.

Blackstock moved to QPR in August 2006 when the Hoops shelled out £500,000 to lure him from Southampton.

"I'm sure he will prove to be a great acquisition," Davies told the club's official website.

"It's no secret that we have been looking for a certain type of striker and Dexter certainly fits that bill.

"I've been watching him with great interest for several seasons and he's got all the attributes of a top striker.

"Most importantly he scores goals but he's also got presence and good movement in his play."
