Derby County have agreed a deal to sign Ben Pringle from non-league side Ilkeston Town.

Pringle will join the Championship club on a one-year contract in July and will become part of Derby's development squad.

Rams boss Nigel Clough has created the development squad as a bridge between the Academy and first team for younger players and it has been entered in the reserve league for next season.

Clough has challenged former West Brom trainee Pringle to prove he can eventually make the step up from the reserves to playing in the Football League.

Hunger

"Obviously this is a signing with an eye very much on the future," Clough told the club's official website.

"He is a player we have seen and think has potential to play in the Football League as he progresses.

"Ben also has the attitude and character we are looking to bring to this football club, with a hunger to better himself and play at the highest level possible.

"It's up to the player now to prove himself and make the progression we believe he can make."
