Mark Robins felt a point was harsh on Barnsley following the 2-2 draw with Sheffield United, while opposite number Kevin Blackwell was left to bemoan the injury curse that once again affected his side.

Barnsley twice took the lead in an entertaining Yorkshire derby but the Blades responded courtesy of two penalties from Darius Henderson.

However, Robins believes all the key decisions went against his team as referee Mark Clattenburg waved away their appeals in attacking positions.

The Tykes manager was nevertheless satisfied with the performance and paid tribute to their improvement since he took charge in September.

Asked what Barnsley deserved out of the game, Robins told Sky Sports: "Three points, without a shadow of a doubt.

"You are looking at two teams being treated fairly in terms of the rules and that wasn't the case.

"We have had two penalties given against us and at the other end of the pitch we are getting our shirts pulled.

"At the end of the day I am disappointed because I thought we played well and created a number of chances so we have come a long way.

"I thought it was a great derby game and we can take great credit."

Blackwell reaction

Blackwell was happy with the effort of his players but reflected on injuries to two more key players, with the Blades already depleted before kick-off.

Matt Kilgallon was forced off just before half-time with suspected ankle ligament damage, while goalkeeper Ian Bennett may have broken a thumb.

"We don't want to be talking about injuries but unfortunately we've got another two today, and that is now nine in eight games," he said.

"The spirit of the players was phenomenal and that is all we can ask, they have come up trumps tonight and worked their socks off."
