Jason Euell has warned his Blackpool team-mates they must face adversity if they are to launch a surprise promotion push.

The veteran forward has played a key role for the Seasiders this season as they have progressed to fifth place in the Championship after 16 games.

Ian Holloway's men travel to Reading on Saturday on the back of a five-match unbeaten run, with home games against Preston and Barnsley to follow.

However, captain Euell has stressed that it will not all be plain sailing as the Seasiders aim to remain in the hunt for Premier League football.

"When you're playing well, the team's playing well and you're getting results, everyone's happy," he told skysports.com.

"But the flip side is that some point during the season we'll have a tough spell and we'll have to stick together.

"It's up to us to get through that and then we'll see where we can get to."

Challenge

Euell, 32, was lured to Blackpool by Holloway after his contract with relegated Southampton expired this summer.

The former Charlton and Middlesbrough man is now hoping to upset the odds and help unfancied Blackpool return to the top flight for the first time in 39 years.

"For me, it's another challenge, and I think that's what football's about - challenging yourself," he said.

"And part of the challenge here is to prove people wrong, that we can go and get promoted.

"We're trying to change everyone's perspective of Blackpool Football Club, and it's something I want to play a part in."
