Skysports.com understands Adriano Basso is ready to quit Bristol City having grown exasperated by his situation at Ashton Gate.

The talented goalkeeper has found himself on the substitutes' bench this season as a result of failing to agree a contract extension with the Championship outfit.

Brazilian Basso has been outstanding over the past couple of seasons having established himself as one of the top goalkeepers outside of the Premier League.

He was recently crowned City's player of the year but with contract talks having reached an impasse in the summer, he has found himself increasingly out of favour.

Basso was linked with a number of other clubs over the summer but a move failed to materialise. However, it is expected much of that interest could be resurrected ahead of the January transfer window.

With his existing deal to expire at the end of the current campaign Basso is in a strong position as he will soon be eligible to speak to interested parties.

Basso briefly reclaimed his place between City's posts earlier in the season when Dean Gerken picked up an injury but has since been sidelined by his team-mate's return.

Skysports.com understands Basso is ready to move on to pastures new as he looks for regular playing time elsewhere.
