Nigel Clough was full of praise for Derby after they came from behind to beat Reading, but Brendan Rodgers was disappointed.

Gylfi Sigurdsson's 56th minute goal gave The Royals the lead, however, it failed to last as Paul Green equalised within minutes.

Rob Hulse wrapped up the points in the 73rd minute with his sixth of the campaign to leave Reading two points clear of third from bottom Plymouth.

Clough was pleased with his team's character to battle from a goal down, although he would prefer it for his team not to go behind.

"We showed character but we have to because we do make it so difficult for ourselves at times," explained Clough.

"At 0-0 there was nothing in the game and we have probably had more of the play in the first half. But then we give away a very soft goal when we are trying to play out from the back.

"But to come back again from a goal down at home is encouraging and once we equalised I think everyone in the ground believed we would go on and win.

"Our home form is sustaining us at the moment and if we could get anything at all on the road we would be in the mid-table area which is where we think we should be."

Rodgers disappointed

Clough's counterpart Rodgers was disappointed his side got in a position to claim all three points before finishing up at Pride Park empty-handed.

"We are very disappointed with the result," said the ex-Watford boss. "We spoke afterwards and our game management when we were 1-0 up was disappointing.

"It's hard to understand because we have clearly picked up in the last three or four games and achieved targets we set ourselves and we looked comfortable.

"We looked as though we could go on and score more goals but then we let in two soft goals which was disappointing from our point of view."

Reading lost Brian Howard to injury in the first half and Rodgers believes the former Sheffield United man suffered a fractured jaw.

"We think he fractured his jaw and he's gone to hospital," he continued. "I didn't see what happened to be honest but it appeared to have been accidental."
