Nigel Pearson felt Leicester City were worthy winners while Kevin Blackwell was pleased Sheffield United's character.

The Foxes claimed all three points against the Blades thanks to first-half goals from Michael Morrison and Matt Fryatt.

The visitors fought back in the second half at the Walkers Stadium with substitute Henri Camara pulling a goal back.

However, Leicester's young defence held out, leaving Pearson beaming that his side remain in the hunt for an end-of-season play-off spot.

Pleased

"I'm pleased we are still in the play-off picture but I am sure there are 10 or 12 managers who think they still have a chance," stated Pearson.

"It's very tight and it only takes a couple of bad results to drop out of it.

"Sheffield United would have been one of the favourites to go up before the season started and that's why I'm delighted with the win.

"I thought we started the first half poorly and it took us 10 or 20 minutes to get going. We made some poor decisions early on but then we got it together to play some decent football.

"I thought we played very well after a poor start and created some good chances. We were worthy winners in the end."

United started well before their form tailed off and Blackwell was pleased his charges did not throw in the towel.

Difficult place

"We know it's a difficult place to come, but we didn't cave in," he told Sky Sports.

"We kept going and I thought we deserved something out of the game, but unfortunately we didn't get it.

"I felt we were sloppy in the first half. We started well and I just thought the players thought it would be easy.

"They got a kick up the backside. At two-nil down I said go and repair the damage and to be fair they almost did.

"I know they were disappointed at half-time that they didn't do the job that I know and they know that they're capable of."

Full-back Kyle Walker hobbled out of the match and Blackwell fears he could be facing a spell on the sidelines.

"Ankle ligament damage," he concluded. "The kid tried to brave it on. It's every time we come on Sky."
