Swansea City are waiting for Bristol City striker Lee Trundle to decide on staying at the Liberty Stadium until the end of the season.

Trundle has spent the first half of the campaign with his former club and has scored five goals in the Championship, despite only starting one match.

He has been offered the chance to extend his loan and Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins says the decision now rests with the 33-year-old.

"I will be speaking to Lee today to finalise things with him, and I think he has made it clear that he will be happy to stay," Jenkins told the Evening Post.

"I have then just got to confirm with Bristol City that the original loan deal we had in place will keep going until May.

Incentive

"The deal was always split in two, so it's just a case of rubber-stamping things so that Lee will continue to be our player.

"It's certainly not out of the question that Lee will be with us beyond this season. The way things were set up, it is far simpler now to extend the loan deal until the end of the season.

"But Lee will be a free agent in the summer and we will look at things then. There's certainly an incentive there for him if he wants to stay at Swansea."

Swansea captain Garry Monk is hoping Trundle stays on, telling the Western Mail: "Everyone knows Trunds is a legend at this club, but he's had to start with a clean slate.

"He's come here on loan and made no bones about the fact he wants to stay - and I think he's done everything asked of him.

"He's slimmed down a lot and he's probably the fittest I've ever seen him - you can see he really wants it and, if it does get agreed for him to stay on, then it's deserved."
