Soares: extended Wednesday stay
Sheffield Wednesday have extended Stoke midfielder Tom Soares' loan spell at Hillsborough until January 25.
The 23-year-old's initial month-long loan expired on December 28, but Stoke manager Tony Pulis has agreed to let him stay for another month.
The Owls have yet to appoint a successor to Brian Laws after parting ways earlier this month and caretaker manager Sean McAuley will once again take control of the side to play Crystal Palace on Saturday.
"We have extended Tom Soares' loan agreement and that will cover Saturday's match in the FA Cup, so we're really pleased," said McAuley.
"It's good because the way he played in our last game showed that he would be a valuable addition to our squad and he's pleased to come back, so it suits everybody.
"Tom's enthusiasm and desire to play has impressed everybody, he understands the position we are in and he's not going to sit back and wait for things to happen because he wants to improve his own career."
Soares started his first game for the Owls in the 2-2 draw with Newcastle on Boxing Day.
