Kevin Nolan admits that Newcastle are looking to lay the foundations of a new revolution at the North East club.

The midfielder's 11 goals this season, comfortably making him the club's top scorer, have helped the Magpies to the top of the Championship, easing the pain of their relegation from the Premier League.

The 27-year-old, who signed from Bolton for 12 months ago, has seen his performances spark rumours of a possible return to the Reebok or more recently a switch to Birmingham in January.

However the Liverpool-born ace is keen to build a legacy at St James' Park and help rebuild the club's image.

"When I finally leave this club, I want to know that when I next come back up they'll be asking me to pull my boots on," he told The Game.

Expectation

"We're not taking anything for granted, but we know that even if we do go up, there are going to be changes, but whether we have a new manager or six new players, we have to make sure there's something to build on, something expected of people when they step through the door.

"We want to look back on this as the start of the revolution at Newcastle."

Nolan also revealed that he had settled into life in the North East well although being away from his family was still tough at times.

"Maybe some people don't embrace it, but they say that Geordies are just like Scousers and it's true," he added.

"I miss my family dearly, but I haven't been home for three months and that's because I feel so comfortable."
