Coventry have completed their capture of promising midfielder Gary Deegan from Bohemians.

The 22-year-old agreed a deal with the Sky Blues on 21st December but could not be officially unveiled at the Ricoh Arena until 4th January.

The formalities of the move have now been completed, though, and the youngster has penned a three-and-a-half-year contract.

The Dublin-born ace arrives with a glowing reputation, with a number of assured performances helping Bohemians to the Irish Premier Division title last term.

That success saw him grace the UEFA Champions League qualifiers this season, where he suffered a 2-1 aggregate defeat to Austrian outfit Red Bull Salzburg.

Deegan was also voted in the PFAI Team of the Season for the 2008/09 campaign, helping to raise his profile even further.

He was reported to be attracting interest from a number of clubs across England in the autumn, including a few from the Premier League, but it is Coventry who have won the race to land his signature.

Sky Blues boss Chris Coleman could now hand his newest recruit an immediate debut during Saturday's Championship clash against Barnsley.
