Coventry City boss Chris Coleman is hopeful of tying up a permanent deal for Carlisle United's teenage striker Gary Madine in this transfer window.

The 19-year-old moved to the Ricoh Arena in October on a three-month loan deal after struggling to command regular first-team football with the Cumbrians this season.

He has since gone on to make nine substitute appearances with the Sky Blues and the Coventry boss wants him on a permanent basis.

Coleman told the Coventry Telegraph: "We want to do something and I had a meeting with the chairman this week and he's speaking with Carlisle to hopefully make that a permanent move."
