Derby chief executive Tom Glick insists the club is not for sale following a takeover bid from former chairman Peter Gadsby.

Former Derby chief and property magnate Gadsby tabled a £37million bid for the Pride Park outfit on Thursday, with plans to give the fans a10 per cent stake in the club.

The 59-year-old stepped down in October 2007 when the Rams were in the Premier League, but has been critical of Derby's current American owners.

Gadsby, who says a successful takeover would result in more transfer funds for manager Nigel Clough, sold his old shares to Adam Pearson, who then brought in US company General Sports and Entertainment.

But current chief executive Glick says the club is not for sale.

"I can categorically say the club is not for sale," he told Sky Sports News.

"It's an unwelcome approach and we're carrying on our business for the day which includes signing a goalkeeper and training for tomorrow's match against Doncaster.

"The club is not for sale, we're not interested. We're working a long term plan that's going to bring sustained success to the club.

"Nigel Clough as manager is a key part of that and we have a club right now that's in a stronger financial position than it's been in a long time, and we just need to continue to work to that plan.

"I don't think I'm at liberty to go into the numbers. I think the important message is that the club is not for sale.

"Any bid, including this bid, is not welcome and we're not for sale."

The Rams are five points above the relegation zone in the Championship and are not yet certain of survival in the second-tier this season.

Gadsby had previously said: "The bid has a value of £37million and will be funded by equity, which means that it will not introduce new debt to the club.

"The bid will also support manager Nigel Clough by making an additional £5million available to him for much-needed signings during the summer transfer window."
