Dave Jones believes there is a good chance a Malaysian consortium will complete a takeover at Cardiff.

The cash-strapped Championship club stand on the brink of financial collapse and require a sizeable injection of funds if they are to avoid potential disaster.

Talks with possible investors have been ongoing for some time, but as yet no buyer has been found.

That, though, could be about to change, with a group already involved with the Welsh outfit ready to up their interest.

A Malaysian consortium headed by Dato Chan Tien Ghee invested in the Bluebirds back in November, with Ghee now a director at Cardiff City Stadium.

He held talks with the rest of the club's board on Thursday and Jones is optimistic about the chances of a deal being struck.

"They are keen," he said.

"We've been talking about pre-season in Malaysia so I'd be very surprised if things don't go right."

He added: "We're waiting for the investment. Everyone is praying it all goes well and we can get things sorted."

Cardiff have until 5th May to come up with the remaining £1.9million of an unpaid tax bill or face a winding-up order.

An adjournment was granted last week after Cardiff claimed a third party investor would provide the club with £6million in funds.
