Holloway: Disappointed with effort

In the first half we were like the Dog and Duck, in the second half we were like Real Madrid.

Ian Holloway blasted his Blackpool players for starting so slowly following their 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace.

Blackpool trailed 2-0 at half-time after goals from Nick Carle and Darren Ambrose put Crystal Palace in control.

But the momentum shifted in the second period as Charlie Adam and Ben Burgess struck to ensure both sides had to settle for a point.

Holloway said: "In the first half we were like the Dog and Duck, in the second half we were like Real Madrid. We can't go on like that.

"One minute I was pulling pints and collecting subs, the next was on a luxury coach.

"At full time I was at them like an irritated Jack Russell who can't quite get the mutt out of the hole and they deserved that.

"Some of those boys who I started with didn't put a shift in for Blackpool, but some of the lads who I had put on the bench always put a shift in for the team.

"I put Ben Burgess on the bench as he had been ill for the last two days and I wanted to preserve him but in the end I had to bring him on in the first half."

Hart reaction

Palace manager Paul Hart hailed his side's first-half performance but admitted it was all downhill after Adam pulled one back for the hosts one minute after the break.

"It was certainly a game of two halves," said Hart.

"I thought we were good value for the first half and the second half they put us under an awful lot of pressure.

"Conceding so quickly was obviously a blow but it was always going to be a struggle for us after that."

Hart praised goalkeeper Julian Speroni's contribution and reiterated his belief the Eagles can avoid relegation.

"Our keeper's fantastic, he's got to be one of the best outside the Premiership," the manager added.

"We've got something like 19 players in our squad and we have to just get on with it.

"We're hopeful about staying up, after all no-one said it was going to be easy but we have to keep on hanging on in there.

"We said to them at half time 'keep going and doing what you've been doing and whatever you do don't concede too early'."
