Cardiff striker Michael Chopra has backtracked on his claim that he would exit the club if no more new players were bought before the new season.

Chopra bemoaned his team's lack of activity in the transfer window in a newspaper on Friday, saying he would quit unless more new signings were made.

Manager Dave Jones has seen only two new arrivals at the Cardiff City Stadium over the summer, with Manchester United duo Tom Heaton and Daniel Drinkwater linking up with the Championship side.

The lack of activity left a frustrated Chopra to believe his team would struggle in the new campaign, which commences on 8th August against Sheffield United.

But Chopra has performed a U-turn on his earlier claim that he would be leaving City - instead reiterating his disappointment at the quiet period endured over the close season.

Chopra told Sky Sports News: "It's just disappointing. I got told at the time there'd be players coming in and things like that.

"When things don't happen, it's like every other person, if things don't happen, you get disappointed.

"As a professional footballer and a person that's got high standards, I'm disappointed at what's happened at the minute.

"But I'm still a Cardiff City player and I'll continue to play well for them."

When asked if he would still be a Bluebirds player at the start of the season, Chopra added: "You'll have to ask the manager that, and the chairman.

"I probably will be, yeah."
