Coventry City's new signing Clive Platt is delighted to get the chance to work with Sky Blues manager Adrian Boothroyd once again.

The experienced targetman joined forces with the former Watford boss after completing his move from Colchester United earlier this week.

Both helped the Us push for a top-six finish in League One last season, but the club faded away towards the end of the campaign, ultimately finishing eight points adrift of the play-offs.

However, the 32-year-old admits he is looking forward to testing himself at Championship level again.

"It is a great opportunity for me personally and linking up with Aidy Boothroyd again is something I am looking forward to," he told skysports.com.

"We had a good season at Colchester together, but we just fell away at the end.

Demands

"The manager is renowned for working at this level and has proven to be a success at this level before, when he took Watford up into the Premier League, so when I found out that he was interested in taking me here I jumped at the chance.

"He is a manager that I have got on with since day one and it always helps when you know what a manager is all about and what he demands of his players.

"Every game you play in helps build your experience and every team needs a mixture of youth, experience and everything in between.

"Hopefully, I can add to that blend and I have good memories from the last time I played in the Championship.

"Whilst at Colchester I formed a decent partnership with Kevin Lisbie in that division and hopefully I can do the same with some of the Coventry lads and help them do well in the league this year."
