Dave Jones insists Cardiff City will only sell Michael Chopra for the right price after confirming Ipswich Town have enquired about the striker.

Chopra's future at Cardiff has come into question after he threatened to leave the club last week if no new signings were made.

He subsequently clarified his comments before being branded 'foolish' by Jones, who remains determined to keep Chopra in South Wales.

Ipswich boss Roy Keane, who signed Chopra for Sunderland three years ago, wants a reunion with the 26-year-old, while Leeds United have also been linked with a bid.

However, Jones says only a 'knock-out' offer will persuade the Bluebirds to sell and he believes Chopra is happy to stay with the Championship club.

Happy

"Roy has made enquiries about him, but the money they are offering is less than what we owe Sunderland," Jones told the South Wales Echo.

"Chops is happy here, but, like everyone else, he wants to see people come in. I've spoken to his agent a lot over the last week and he is happy for Chops to stay here.

"Why would I want sell one of my best players unless it's a knock-out punch?

"Most of the players have had enquiries about them, particularly when a club is reported to be in financial trouble.

"I would do exactly the same thing. That's always going to happen."
