Boothroyd hopeful on King

Aidy Boothroyd has confirmed he hopes to sign Marlon King as he looks to bolster Coventry City before the transfer window closes.

The Sky Blues boss was speaking after his team's 2-1 win over Derby County which sent them top of the Championship table.

Boothroyd has been linked with King, who he worked with at Watford, and invited the striker to attend Saturday's game at the Ricoh Arena.

He told Sky Sports: "We definitely need to add, I have got a couple in mind. We might do some business the other way too.

"King is one I have in mind. I know him well. The best time to strengthen is when you are winning."

Boothroyd went on to dispel suggestions that King could be troublesome following his chequered past.

He added: "I don't expect any problems. If we can manage to get him, he could be brilliant for us."

Complacency

On his team's display against Derby, Boothroyd warned his men against complacency but was pleased they ground out all three points.

He continued: "I thought first of all that our opponents today were terrific. They played some lovely stuff.

"And I thought that we were terrific, for different reasons. I just said to the boys in there that sometimes you've got to not play so well, ride out games, and make sure you get the restarts right.

"We did that, and I thought today we were better at the restarts and that's why we managed to get a win.

"I just said to the lads that we are going to win when playing well soon. I am not trying to be flippant by saying that.

"We are a work in progress, we have got new players together. We have got loads of work to do. It's a nice sensible start, and that's all it is.

Rams

Meanwhile, Rams assistant manager Gary Crosby felt his side deserved something from the game and also praised Moxey, who opened his account for the club with his first goal since April 2009.

Crosby said: "I am extremely disappointed with the result but that's all. I was very, very encouraged with the performance but naturally I am very disappointed with the result.

"Away from home at a Championship side it is always a difficult game but I felt we dominated possession and we were in control for most of the game.

"Defensively we were disappointed with one or two defenders not being tight enough initially. Obviously there are a couple of general things like that we need to sharpen up on.

"Obviously we were disappointed to give the penalty away because it was the only way we could see them scoring.

"I thought Dean Moxey did very well. We have five strikers out for one reason or another and we have to put somebody up there and after a lot of thinking and a lot talking we came up with Dean Moxey.

"He did very well, got himself a goal and could have had a hat-trick."

"What happens now is there is an opportunity to get complacent, and we certainly will not be doing that."
