Huddersfield Town have completed the signing of experienced striker Alan Lee from Crystal Palace for an undisclosed fee.

Skysports.com revealed earlier this month that Huddersfield had shown an interest in Lee and Palace accepted an offer at the start of this week.

The Republic of Ireland forward has signed a two-year contract at the Galpharm Stadium and is relishing the chance to play for the League One club.

"I know a lot of people in football and I started getting a few texts and things about rumours surrounding me and Huddersfield and then the manager pulled me to one side before the first game of the season to tell me that the chairman had been in discussion with Town," Lee told the club's official website.

Ambition

"At that point I was told not to think about it and to concentrate on the game, but then once I knew Crystal Palace had accepted a bid that changed things.

"You always like to feel wanted and I've heard some brilliant things about the club from people I respect in the game.

"The size and the ambition of the club appeals to me, as well as Lee Clark and the experienced backroom staff at the club - that experience is very, very impressive.

"It will be great to be a part in a push for promotion. We finished on a high last season, just escaping relegation on the final day, and it will be great to be at the other end of the scale this year."

The powerful frontman joined Palace two years ago from Ipswich Town and he had started the club's opening four games of the season.
