Leicester have completed the signing of striker Martyn Waghorn from Sunderland for an undisclosed fee, believed to be in the region of £3million.

Waghorn spent last season on loan at the Walkers Stadium and helped the Foxes reach the Championship play-off semi-finals.

The 20-year-old, who bagged 12 goals last term, has now returned on a permanent contract and is set to make his debut against Coventry on 11th September.

Chairman Milan Mandaric was delighted manager Paulo Sousa had secured Waghorn's signature and saluted club owner Top Raksriaksorn for financing the deal.

Talented

Mandaric told the club's official website: "Leicester City Football Club is delighted to be able to welcome Martyn Waghorn back on a permanent basis.

"This is yet another example of Top Raksriaksorn showing his intention to take this club forward.

"Top has recognised a talented young English striker and has provided the financial backing to turn the dream of Waggy's return in to reality.

"I know the fans will be as pleased as I am at the return of Waggy. I know that Paulo has also wanted to make this signing for quite some time."
