Hull City have allowed defender Anthony Gardner to join Championship rivals Crystal Palace on loan.

Gardner will link up with the Eagles until January after starting on the bench in the Tigers' last three outings.

The 29-year-old had been named in manager Nigel Pearson's first two starting XIs but was dropped following his side's 4-0 loss at Millwall.

Gardner joined the Tigers in 2008 for a £2.5million fee that was the club's record signing until the arrival of £5million midfielder Jimmy Bullard.

He will now link-up with Palace boss George Burley at Selhurst Park where he will hope to feature regularly in the Londoners' starting XI.

The move comes after Pearson brought in Cardiff stopper Anthony Gerrard on a season-long loan on transfer deadline day.
