Promising forward Danny Ward has committed his long-term future to Bolton by penning a three-year deal.

The 18-year-old will now be tied to the Premier League outfit until the summer of 2013.

He has made just two substitute appearances for the Trotters so far, but is held in high regard around the Reebok Stadium.

An impressive loan spell at Swindon last season allowed him to showcase his considerable talent and helped to raise his profile within the game.

His progress convinced Bolton boss Owen Coyle that he is worthy of a new contract, and the Scot has tipped Ward to blossom over the next few years.

It is expected that he will be loaned out again this season, with Championship side Coventry reported to be leading the chase, but Coyle is confident it will not be long before the teenager is pressing for a regular place in his senior side.

Belief

"I have tremendous belief in Danny but it's fair to say that he needs to go and get some Championship experience," the Trotters boss told the club's official website.

"He was involved in our squad throughout pre-season and did ever so well but, with the players we have in front of him at the moment, it makes sense for him to go out on loan.

"He can now go out on an emergency loan, which covers the next three months, and I know that when he comes back then I will get a far better player.

"Danny did ever so well with Swindon in League One and he was a big part of their promotion push which saw them reach the play-off final.

"If he goes out and gets some games then he will come back and be ready to push into our first-team.

"There have been numerous clubs throughout the Championship that have been after him, so it is likely that he will go out on loan in the next week or so."
