Ipswich boss Roy Keane is hoping to bolster his injury-ravaged squad with another loan recruit.

The Championship outfit have seen their defensive options decimated over recent weeks, with all three of their left-backs struck down by injury.

Keane is aware that he needs to address that issue as soon as possible and plans to dip into the transfer market at the earliest opportunity.

He claims to already be in talks with a Premier League side regarding the possibility of taking a player on a short-term basis, and hopes his efforts will pay dividends.

Keane said: "We're going to have a busy few months with injuries and suspensions.

Problem

"There's one area of the club I think needs strengthening. We are in discussions with a Premier League club, maybe something will happen next week.

"We have players available to do a job for us but it's not ideal playing a right-footer at left-back.

"But that's the way it's panned out, it seems to have been a problem since I walked in the door the left-back position.

"We think we have it covered with three of them, then they're all injured. We'll adapt to it and get on with it."

Ipswich have made an impressive start to the 2010/11 campaign, going unbeaten through their opening four fixtures.
