Doncaster Rovers manager Sean O'Driscoll has confirmed he would be interested in signing David Healy, but has yet to approach Sunderland.

Reports have linked Rovers with a loan move for Healy, who has not made a Premier League appearance for Sunderland since December last year.

He had a spell on loan at Ipswich Town last season and an agent has asked O'Driscoll if he would be keen to sign the Northern Ireland striker.

"Like most clubs, unless you make contact yourself, you get the contact made through agents and that has happened," O'Driscoll told the club's official website.

Difficult

"An agent has asked the question 'would we be interested in taking David Healy?', however that is as far as it's gone. The next thing I know, it's in the papers.

"We won't make contact with Sunderland yet unless we have something concrete. We don't want to go to any Premier League club with a half-baked idea of what we can and can not do, as that just makes us look unprofessional.

"At the moment, its just speculation I suppose, but he is somebody that would interest us.

"If we could get somebody in of David Healy's quality, it would be foolish if I didn't initially say that we would be interested.

"I'm interested in a lot of players, but moving it a step forward is the difficult thing."
