Championship round-up

Birmingham battled past Leicester at The Walkers Stadium to move second in the Championship table.

Blues suffered a dip in form over Easter, but they have bounced back and are now in pole position to secure automatic promotion to the Premiership.

In-form Radhi Jaidi set Birmingham on their way to three points with the opener on 16 minutes, as he rose high to head home Gary McSheffrey's corner.

The visitors took just three minutes to double the advantage, with Andy Cole the architect of the goal. The classy striker tied Nils-Eric Johansson in knots before cutting the ball back for Sebastian Larsson to slot home from close range.

Colin Doyle made a couple of fine saves after the break, one in particular from Richard Stearman was out of the very top drawer, but he could do nothing to keep out Shaun Newton's free-kick with eight minutes remaining.

The Foxes laid siege to the Birmingham goal in the dying minutes, but could not force a draw.

Burnley eased further away from the drop zone with a 3-0 win over Norwich.

The Clarets went ahead on 30 minutes when Ade Akinbiyi headed home Michael Duff's cross.

Andy Gray tapped in from close range on 86 minutes after Tony Warner had pushed James O'Connor's shot onto the post and the points were made safe when Wade Elliott slotted home.
