Kapo: Delighted with move

Olivier Kapo feels he has joined a club which is 'going places' after completing his move to Wigan Athletic from Birmingham City.

The French midfielder was due to finalise his switch on Tuesday, only for a minor problem to hold up the transfer.

He has now signed a three-year contract at the JJB Stadium, with Wigan paying a fee of £3.5million for the 27-year-old.

Kapo was signed for Birmingham by Steve Bruce last summer and is looking forward to working with the Latics manager again.

Fantastic

"It's fantastic to be signing for a club like Wigan," Kapo told the club's official website.

"As soon as I spoke with Steve and he told me his plans for the next few years, I wanted to come.

"Steve is a fantastic manager and this club is going places. I really want to be playing for them now."

The former Juventus player is Wigan's second summer signing after the capture of Daniel De Ridder and Bruce had been anxious to bring in Kapo.

Real fighter

Bruce said: "Yes, he's one I really wanted to get on board. Olivier's a real fighter, but he has a touch of quality about him.

"He can play in a number of positions and having worked with him in the past I know what a good addition to our squad he will be.

"He has Premier League experience, which is important and I'm confident he will do well here."
