Burnley are hoping to call on Kevin McDonald for the visit of Birmingham City, who are without Radhi Jaidi.

McDonald has missed the last four games with an ankle injury suffered against Swansea City last month and will undergo a late fitness test.

Stephen Jordan is suspended after being sent off against Reading, while Alex MacDonald is on international duty with the Scotland Under 19 squad.

Graham Alexander and Martin Paterson have returned from international duty with clean bills of health and will start, but defenders Clarke Carlisle and Michael Duff and midfielder Alan Mahon are struggling to be fit.

Clarets boss Owen Coyle is expected to start with Christian Kalvenes and Dutch midfielder Remco van der Schaaf is pushing for a return after two months out.

Birmingham news

Championship leaders Birmingham will be pressed into one change after Jaidi suffered an injury on international duty.

The Tunisian picked up a thigh problem in the week and could be out for three games, so Martin Taylor will come in at centre-back.

Blues boss Alex McLeish is still without Stephen Kelly and Damien Johnson, but has no other injury troubles.

Kevin Phillips, James McFadden, Cameron Jerome, Garry O'Connor and Marcus Bent will all be competing to start in attack as Blues look to extend their unbeaten run to four games.
