Birmingham striker Kevin Phillips is determined to prove that he can still make an impact in the Premier League.

Blues are challenging for promotion from the Championship after being relegated last season, and Phillips has been one of their star performers.

Having left West Brom over the summer, the striker hopes Birmingham can go up to the top flight so he has the opportunity to test himself against the best.

"I'd like to get that feeling of scoring in the Premier League again and hopefully I will next year," he said in the Daily Mirror.

"I definitely feel I could be an influence and do some kind of job at that level.

"But let's get there first as this club needs to bounce back straight away.

"I set out at the beginning of the season with the aim to help Birmingham get promoted and that's even stronger now.

Phillips has netted 11 goals this term and he hopes to maintain his form over the next six months.

He said: "I am pleased with my goals to games ratio after starting 16 times.

"I'd like to break the 20-goal barrier at the end of the season but at this stage of my career it is more important we get promoted."
