Lee Carsley has revealed that Birmingham will not be making any special preparations for their top-of-the-table clash with Wolves on Monday.

Birmingham will move to within two points of the league leaders if they are victorious over their Midlands rivals at St Andrews.

Carsley believes a change in team tactics has provided the springboard for a Championship title challenge.

"Our approach to that game will be the same as it has been all season, with the same intensity," he told the Birmingham Mail.

"Over the last five or six weeks we've changed our style a bit, we've gone a lot more direct, which has helped us on the pitch we play on.

"We've created a lot more chances and scored a few more goals. We're not going to pass teams off the park, but (we can) over-run them and over-power them.

"Every game left is a cup final and we have to start by beating Wolves and then the others we've got left to play if we are to go up."

Although securing automatic promotion is the club's main aim, Carsley admits he would be disappointed if Birmingham did not win the league title.

The veteran midfielder also said that he was not alone in wanting to go up as the Championship's top club.

"I look over our team and I believe we have more quality and we are better than anyone," he added.

"We haven't always played the best, we haven't always produced the best football, but the lads have always given 100 per cent and no-one can knock them for that.

"When I spoke to the gaffer in the summer, I told him that I wanted to win, I wanted us to go up as champions.

"When I wake up in the morning I think about it, when I go to sleep at night I think about it.

"A lot of players are obsessed about wanting to go up as champions. Yes, that might put more pressure on us, but that's what we're here for."
