Sebastian Larsson has confirmed contract talks have re-opened with Birmingham with a view to extending his St Andrew's stay.

The former Arsenal man has just 10 months left of his current deal plus a 12-month option.

Blues offered the Swedish midfielder a deal at the start of the year, but he admits the timing was not right at that point to finalise his future.

Larsson insists he not stalling over penning a new deal and that he will commit to Birmingham if the deal is 'right' for both parties.

Discussions

"We have started discussions again. Everyone knows there was a contract on the table at the beginning of last year," confirmed Larsson.

"But it wasn't the right time or circumstances for me to talk about a new contract.

"I wanted to see where we were going. But if people think I am sitting and stalling on a deal in front of me, I'm not doing that at the moment.

"Hopefully the club and myself want the same thing. I like to take it nice and slow and not rush into anything, to just focus on the football.

"I think the club are comfortable with that as well. If we want the same thing, then I am sure it will be sooner rather than later."

Happy

Larsson added: "If it suited me, I'd be happy to sign. I haven't talked about the contract situation too much and you can never avoid speculation.

"Hopefully, we can agree something but I don't want to rush into anything and neither do the club.

"But if they are going to commit to me and I'm going to commit to them for a long period of time then it has got to be right for both of us."
