Blues boss Alex McLeish is keen to add to his squad before the close of the transfer window and has identified Derbyshire as a target after giving up on Moussa Dembele.

Derbyshire has been plying his trade in Greece for Olympiakos for the last two seasons, but the Greek club are willing to let him leave.

New Olympiakos coach Ernesto Valverde has informed Derbyshire he is prepared to loan out him as he does not figure in his plans for next season.

The news has alerted Birmingham who are keen to take the former England Under-21 international to St Andrews on a season-long loan.

Derbyshire is expected to fly to England on Friday to hold talks with Blues officials about a move to the club.
