Mariners miss out on keeper

Grimsby Town boss Russell Slade admits Wrexham-bound Michael Ingham was one of the goalkeepers he was hoping to sign.

Slade admitted earlier this week that he wants to add two new keepers to his squad for next season's League Two campaign.

Ingham was on Slade's shopping list, with the shot-stopper leaving Sunderland when his contract expires at the end of June.

But he has agreed a two-year contract with Wrexham, much to the disappointment of Slade, who yearned to bring Ingham to Blundell Park.

"It's disappointing but there are other targets I have and I will be chasing them up over the next few days," Slade told the club's official website.

"There were a few clubs in for Michael but we had hoped he would come to Blundell Park.

"But he has been on loan at Wrexham before and that probably swayed him."
