Sunderland midfielder Kieran Richardson says he has cleared the air with Roy Keane after being axed for Sunday's clash with Arsenal.

England international Richardson was left out of the final game of the season against Arsenal after incurring the wrath of Keane.

Keane axed his former Manchester United team-mate from the squad after being late for training earlier in the week.

Richardson's future at the Stadium of Light has been the subject of speculation with Keane admitting he has not been happy with the impact of a number of players.

The 23-year-old says he has no problems at being axed from the squad and he has resolved the matter with Keane.

"During the week there was an incident where I was late due to my train being late," Richardson told The Sun.

"I expect that of the manager. If you're not on time, you don't get in the squad.

"But I spoke to the gaffer about it, I sorted it out, it's fine. There are no hard feelings."

Meanwhile, Sunderland will play Dutch giants Ajax in a pre-season friendly at the Stadium of Light on 3rd August as part of the celebrations marking the 35th anniversary of the club's 1973 FA Cup win.
