Sunderland striker Kenwyne Jones is set to discover the extent of his knee injury on Monday.

Jones collided with goalkeeper David James in the early stages of Trinidad and Tobago's international friendly against England.

He was not able to shake off the problem and was substituted in only the 11th minute.

The Black Cats have now confirmed that their medical department are liaising with their Trinidad and Tobago counterparts.

A statement on the club's official website said Jones was 'expected to undergo a scan in Trinidad later today'.

Trinidad and Tobago, also featuring Sunderland's Carlos Edwards, lost 3-0 to England with Jermain Defoe grabbing two goals and Gareth Barry scoring the other.
